OK - I have a confession. With the exception of ink (e.g., the silhouette and striped face here), I never use black. Phew! I feel better already. No really, natural objects like birds and cats are never truly black... they are a combination of hues. Art tip! If you paint without black, your natural/bio pieces will come ALIVE! Further, Payne's Grey is my go-to watercolor for such things and when combined with Burnt Umber, you nearly get black... just a way more "interesting" version. #themoreyouknow
There's a variety of media here: ink, watercolor, graphite... and one scratchboard piece (the horse sculpture) from my days at SAIC.
